Architectures of Colour
Colour is not passive—it builds, defines, and transforms. In Architectures of Colour, Christopher constructs spaces of emotion, where each canvas becomes a framework for perception.
Through abstraction, shifting forms, and the tension between movement and stillness, Christopher explores how feelings take shape visually. Colours collide and converge, tracing the push and pull of experience. Some compositions hum with quiet introspection, while others vibrate with urgency. The work is both instinctive and intentional—an unfolding process where emotion is constructed, deconstructed, and rebuilt.
Each piece acts as both a foundation and a threshold, inviting the viewer to step inside and bring their own emotional landscapes with them. These paintings do not impose a singular narrative but instead create space for shifting, deeply personal interpretations.
Christopher Aitken, originally born in Ontario, has spent 24 years on the west coast of Canada. His journey as an artist began after surviving a challenging cancer diagnosis, which served as a catalyst for him to wholeheartedly pursue his passion for painting. Now Christopher channels his experiences into a diverse body of work, capturing the essence of his personal triumphs and struggles through the language of colour, shape, and space. His artistic expression serves as a testament to resilience and the transformative power of creativity, reflecting the profound impact of his own life journey on canvas.
