JULY 2024
Yuri Arajs is showing two large mixed media pieces. There is drawing, found objects, paint and an installation of broken branches for his show Strange Weather.
Yuri Arajs is a Canadian artist who works and lives in Vancouver BC. Yuri considers himself to be a minimalist landscape artist who has a focus on the sky and what happens above us. This latest body of artwork pays attention to the weather and what it looks like. There are also specific investigations into the elements of those images.

MAY 2024
Arleigh Wood is showing some pieces from her series AFTER THE RAINS. These highly textured mixed media paintings are filled with silk screened abandoned shelters, painted geometric shapes, hand drawn roots and trees. Both beautiful and unsettling, these landscapes explore themes of climate change, Japanese Canadian internment, ghost towns, gentrification and human resilience.
While these houses are located in spectacular places such as Vancouver, Iceland and Joshua Tree, the actual location is not of primary importance. It is more the universality and ubiquity of these makeshift shelters and the stories they contain.

APRIL 2024

Shannon Pawliw’s series of paintings WEAVINGS is where she delves into the nuanced relationship between structure and fluidity, utilizing the canvas as an arena for creative experimentation. The collection features a series of paintings that seamlesslyintegrate intricate, grid-like patterns with expressive, organic strokes, invitingspectators into a dialogue between order and spontaneity. The woven grid in metaphorical loom, where colours intertwine to create a visual tapestry that transcends conventional boundaries. Each brushstroke functions as a thread, meticulously placed yet granted the freedom to move within the confines of the canvas.

.INSTRU MENTAL

Arnt and Valerie Arntzen
Instru Mental was inspired by the collection of dead and discarded instruments gathered over the years.  They decided to follow in Picasso’s footsteps and deconstruct and then re-construct.  Their artistic practices melded beautifully together and the duo learned so much from each other.  During the process they started to tap into each other’s skills to put this work together whether it was from a physical talent or an aesthetic decision.
